We planned it. You drive it. A 5-day roadtrip through the north of Baja, built for first-timers who want the essentials — wine country, a Pacific fishing town, wetlands, and Mexico’s highest sierra. The route, the campsites, the activities, even where to eat are already dialed in: taco stands, a wine tasting in Valle de Guadalupe, kayaking the San Quintín wetlands, a hike up a volcano, and a surf lesson to close it out. No guide, no guesswork. You pick the vehicle, follow the roadbook, and go.
DAY 1 – Valle de Guadalupe
Your first day runs north into Mexico’s wine country. After pickup and a supply run, you stop in Puerto Nuevo for its famous lobster tacos, then head into Valle de Guadalupe — the heart of Baja’s wine scene. Hike to the hot springs in the afternoon, then close the day with a tasting of five wines at Adobe Guadalupe before camping at El Valle RV Park.
DAY 2 — San Quintín → Terra Peninsular
You head south to San Quintín, a quiet Pacific coast known for its farmland, oysters, and volcanic landscape. Lunch at Restaurante Molino Viejo, then into the Terra Peninsular reserve for a hike up the Sudoeste volcano — a short climb with wide views over the bay. You camp the night at La Palapa, right in the reserve.
DAY 3 — San Quintín Wetlands → Sierra San Pedro Mártir
A morning on the water: a guided kayak tour through the San Quintín wetlands, one of the most important coastal habitats on the peninsula. You pack up camp and grab lunch at the Bahía Falsa oyster farm with Don Ricardo — oysters straight from the water — before driving up into the Sierra San Pedro Mártir, the highest mountain range in Baja. You camp inside the national park under some of the darkest skies in Mexico.
DAY 4 — National Park → Rancho Meling → Campo #9
A morning hike in the Sierra San Pedro Mártir National Park — pine forest and mountain air, a completely different Baja from the coast. Around midday you descend to Rancho Meling, a historic ranch, for lunch, then continue to Campo #9 to catch the sunset over the water. Camp for the night.
DAY 5 — Ensenada → Home
The last stretch heads to Ensenada. You start the morning with a 90-minute surf lesson at Playa Hermosa — good for all levels — then lunch at Agaves right on the beach. Around 3:30 pm you head back north for a 5:00 pm drop-off at Sampa and your transfer to the hotel or airport.
