Just you, an adventure-equipped vehicle loaded with everything you need, and a 5 day Baja itinerary you can follow without thinking twice. Grab the keys and go.
DAY 1 – East Cape
Your first taste of the Sea of Cortez. After pickup and a supply run in San José del Cabo, you head to the East Cape — a stretch of empty coastline where the desert meets warm, clear water. In summer the swell brings some of the best surf on the coast; the rest of the year the water turns calm and glassy, ideal for kayaking and paddleboarding. The day ends with wild camping on Playa San Luis: no crowds, no resorts, just the beach and the sound of the waves.
DAY 2 — Cabo Pulmo → Sol de Mayo
As Jacques Cousteau described it “The Aquarium of the world”. Cabo Pulmo is the best example of a community coming together for the preservation of their fertile coastline, thriving coral reefs and marine life; and it’s today one of the most popular places worldwide for Scuba diving and snorkeling.
Sierra de la Laguna: After Cabo Pulmo, you cross into the sierra to Sol de Mayo, a desert oasis with a waterfall and natural pool where you camp for the night. The area of Sierra de la Laguna is known for its natural oasis, stunning surroundings, crystalline pools and cascading waterfalls. This area offers a unique opportunity to hike by the river, eat from local farm and indulge in the tranquility of the nature.
DAY 3 — La Ventana
A slower day on the map, a bigger one on the water. La Ventana is a laid-back bay on the Sea of Cortez, and the spot for a marine safari — head out to look for mobula rays, sea lions, and dolphins, with the chance to swim alongside them in season. You camp at Punta Arena, a sandy point with open views across the channel to Isla Cerralvo. In winter, the bay becomes Baja’s wind capital, so kiteboarding and windsurfing are there as an optional add-on for anyone who wants to try.
DAY 4 — Balandra & Isla Espíritu Santo → La Paz
The postcard day. You tour Balandra — often called Mexico’s most beautiful beach, with its shallow turquoise flats — and continue by boat to Isla Espíritu Santo, a UNESCO-protected island where you can swim with sea lions and paddle hidden coves. You spend the night at Sol RV Park in La Paz — a chance to plug in, refill water, take a proper shower, and reset the vehicle before the last stretch. Cap it off with a walk along the La Paz malecón at golden hour.
DAY 5 — Todos Santos → Home
The last stretch crosses the peninsula to the Pacific side and Todos Santos, a pueblo mágico known for its galleries, artisan market, and the famous Hotel California. You explore the town, grab lunch, and head back to Los Cabos for drop-off and your transfer to the hotel or airport.
