What to do?
The Wetlands
The wetlands of San Quintín are among the most important in the peninsula, as they capture carbon dioxide and act as the lungs of Baja California. They are ideal spots for kayaking and birdwatching. Don’t forget to be mindful and respect the ecosystem, as these are very delicate areas where many birds feed and rest.
Hiking at Monte Ceniza
In the heart of the Monte Ceniza Nature Reserve, there is a trail that leads you to a spot where you can view the entire San Quintín Bay, along with its volcanoes, wetlands, and oyster farms. Stay on the trail to avoid damaging the vegetation.

San Quintín is world-famous for the quality and freshness of its oysters. These farms are surrounded by protected natural areas, which helps maintain the water quality.
Climbing Southwest Volcano
This volcano is located in the Punta Mazo Nature Reserve, and there’s a trail you can hike to reach the summit. Along the way, you’ll see Dudleyas, a plant that only grows on the volcanoes of San Quintín. It’s important not to touch or take these plants, as they are fragile and part of the ecosystem, better to take photos or sketch them instead.
